Man arrested for New Hanover County burglary and assault


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – The suspect wanted for a stabbing and assault is behind bars.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman, Lt. Jerry Brewer, says deputies arrested Kevin Waterman last night.

According to arrest warrants, Waterman broke into a home on Golden Road just after midnight on Tuesday night. Warrants say a man and woman were inside the home during the break-in. Warrants say Waterman broke in and stabbed the woman with a kitchen knife. The male victim was shot in the hand.

Deputies arrested Waterman at 1606 South 12th street. He is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and inflicting serious injury and one count of first degree burglary.

Waterman also faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon related to a separate incident. Waterman is accused of stealing a flat screen tv from a woman and threatening her with a sharp object on August 11.

Waterman is in jail under a $600,313.00 bond.

The victims were taken to the hospital, their injuries are not life-threatening.
