Columbus County gets homebuyer help

Columbus County is getting money to help first-time homebuyers. State Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco says the county is getting a $50,000 Community Development Block Grant.

Columbus County will partner with Columbus County Dream Center Inc. to establish 20 individual development accounts for savings matches of up to $1,000 each. Three banks will provide an additional $50,000.

The money will also provide financial literacy training for first-time homebuyers.
