Tregembo zoo opens for season
The Cape Fear region’s oldest zoo reopened for the season today. The Tregembo Animal Park on Carolina Beach Road in New Hanover County is home to more than 500 animals, including several new monkeys.
The park also has lions, tigers and bears, but that’s not all. Zoo owner Robert Tregembo says the monkeys aren’t the only new additions.
“We also have a sloth that’s not on display yet,” Tregembo said. “It’s a South American sloth. That’ll be nice for people to see. We have some baby alligators that we hatched out last fall and we have a new education building for school groups to go into before they visit the zoo.”
The Tregembo Animal Park will remain open until early November.
