New traffic pattern in Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) – Drivers should be aware of a new traffic pattern on Pleasure Island.

The change is at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Lake Park Boulevard.

Drivers using Lake Park Boulevard can no longer turn east onto Atlanta Avenue. The town of Carolina Beach says this change has been made to make it safer for pedestrians using the crosswalk at that intersection.

A turn lane has been installed in the southbound lane of Lake Park Boulevard at Woody Hewitt Avenue to allow vehicles to access  that area. A left turn lane has been installed in the northbound lane of Lake Park at Atlanta Avenue, for vehicles headed west onto Atlanta Avenue.

Signs have been placed in key areas to help drivers locate the Lake Parking lot.
