Golf auction to raise money for turfgrass research
LIBERTY, S.C. (AP) – Golfers are invited to bid on rounds at
hundreds of courses around the Southeast to raise money for
turfgrass research.
Auction officials say the two-week, online bidding runs
Wednesday through April 21. It features foursomes at more than 550
courses in the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia and Texas.
Courses with PGA tournaments donating tee times include East
Lake Golf Club in Georgia, Sedgefield Country Club in North
Carolina and Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina. Other
exclusive courses include the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.
The auction has expanded from last year, when $55,000 was raised
for research at Clemson and North Carolina State.
This year, it will also fund research at the University of
Georgia and turfgrass programs in Texas and Virginia.
