State tax refunds should arrive by mid-May
North Carolina tax officials say the state is catching up on income tax refunds after a delay earlier this year caused by slow cash flow. The Revenue Department said tax return filers who meet the April 15 deadline should have their refunds by mid-May.
A spokeswoman said the state had a similar problem last year and was able to get refunds out by May 13 to people who filed on time. Refunds delayed beyond May 31 start accruing five-percent interest.
