Police, deputies respond to second apartment standoff
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After an hours-long standoff ended at a New Hanover County apartment complex this evening, officers raced off to the scene of another incident at a different apartment complex.
Lt. Thomas Tillman tells us 56-year-old Michael Finkelstein is in custody after he pointed a long gun, most likely a rifle, at a roommate and girlfriend, then locked himself in the bedroom. The others left the apartment and called 911. SWAT and negotiators were called to the scene.
Around 10 p.m. WPD tweeted that residents in Crosswinds Apartments should stay where the were if they hadn’t been asked to leave. A few minutes later, WPD sent out another Tweet about a barricaded gunman.
