NHC Commissioners decline WWAY’s invitation to further discuss sales tax increase

Wilmington (WWAY) – On Wednesday, we sent word through Mark Boyer, Public Information Officer for New Hanover County, inviting any and all County Commissioners to come to the station during our 500p – 630p newscast on Monday to discuss and answer questions about the sales tax increase.

We told him we would devote a substantial amount of time to the discussion – that our early evening newscast has one of the highest audiences of the entire day – and that it would be timely since the election would be less than 24 hours away.

Boyer replied that the regular Commissioner Meeting was at 600p on Mondays and would conflict – so we suggested taping the segment at any point during the day to make it more convenient.

When we checked in for an update today, Boyer emailed back, “I asked yesterday. No way. They have a work session at 2 on Monday followed by the 6:00 board meeting.”
