Homebuyers racing clock for tax credit

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The race against the clock is almost over for homebuyers trying to find the perfect house, at the perfect price. Today is the last day for the first time homebuyer tax credit, which saves buyers as much as eight thousand dollars.

Realtors say that buyers have been very active this past week trying to find the right home just in time. Lisa Medlin spent Friday visiting seven houses hoping to close a deal.

“Well I’m hoping to find the house that I just love, and I would love to be able to get everything signed where I could qualify for the $6,500 tax credit.” Medlin said.

Medlin and her realtor made an offer on a home Thursday only to be outbid. Late this afternoon, they found out an offer on another house was accepted.
