Wilmington-area homes sales surge in August
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — Wilmington-area home sales in August were up 30 percent compared to the same month last year, continuing a winning trend for the region that really started picking up steam last year. For all of 2016, sales are up nearly 20 percent compared to the same eight-month period in 2015.
There were 889 units sold in August, a 3 percent increase from July, according to figures released by the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors (WRAR) Monday afternoon.
The number of days on the market for homes continues to steadily shrink, with a 14.6 percent reduction year over year. Those with homes for sale now faced an average of 79 days on the market last month compared to an August 2015 average wait time of 105 days.
