Belk thief sentenced to five years for stealing jeans in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY ) – A New Hanover County jury convicted Joey Tremaine Smith, 35, of Larceny from a Merchant this afternoon.
Judge W. Douglas Parsons sentenced Smith, a habitual felon, to 70- 90 months in prison.
On November 22, 2015, Smith stole jeans from Belk at Independence Mall by removing the anti-theft sensors from the jeans. Surveillance video captured the theft. Loss prevention caught Smith at the scene.
Smith was previously convicted of Common Law Robbery, Possession by a Firearm by a Felon, and multiple drug and domestic violence offenses.
