Weddings fill NC beach house at $24,500 a week

COROLLA, N.C. — A new beach-front getaway on North Carolina’s Outer Banks is nearly booked for the entire season despite its peak price of $24,500 a week.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, Va., reported the mini-hotel cost $1.5 million to build on a 10-acre oceanfront lot near Corolla.

The realty company that manages the property says the 23-bedroom, 27-bathroom house already is nearly fully booked into November.

The house was built to accommodate large parties of people for events such as weddings.

Currituck County tourism director Diane Nordstrom says the mansion is appealing because weddings are such big business. She says dividing the rental cost among a large group of people keeps it reasonable.
