Pender County 13-year-old accused of making a bomb

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A 13-year-old is in custody related to reports of a homemade bomb at a home in the Currie community.

The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to to a home just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a possible bomb.

During the investigation, the juvenile was taken into custody.

Deputies say there was no threat to the community outside of the home where the item was located.

Officials say the 13-year-old will likely be charged with making an incendiary device.
