Debate parties pop up all over the Port City
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — From downtown to UNCW, folks were out to support their candidates in tonight’s debate. A number of those out said this is the first time they’ve ever really watched a debate.
Some said this year, there is a lot at stake and they said it is important for people to be as informed as possible before casting their ballots in November. Others said social media has played such a massive part in this election process that more people are more involved than ever in what the candidates are saying.
Both sides agreed that they hope the debate was mostly about educating voters.
“I would hope that it would be sensible and real and serious,” said Clinton supporter Mary Beth Bankson.
“Out of tonight the people that aren’t so sure who they’re going to vote for, or people who aren’t interested, that they get interested and get educated because I’m not saying everyone has to vote for Trump, I’m saying everyone should just vote and voice their opinion. It’s their right,” said Trump supporter Nick Nocella.
Voters said they are hoping that some good conversations will be started based on what the candidates had to say tonight. The next presidential debate will be on Sunday October 9.
