Wilmington celebrates Memorial Day
It’s a day of remembrance full of flags, flowers, and friends.
“It’s very heart-warming that the country has turned around now and everyone is patriotic regardless about how they feel about war. They don’t mistreat the war hero and that’s the only thing we’ve ever felt for,” said Larry Farmer, a veteran himself.
People gathered at the Wilmington National Cemetery to honor veterans and pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Family and friends of those who died and currently serve say Memorial Day is not just a holiday.
It’s a day to reflect, remember and recognize those individuals who were and are willing to give their life for the sake of their country and fellow Americans.
Memorial Day honors and recognizes those who have fought and fallen for our country. It also serves as a reminder that those are still those fighting overseas for our freedom.
