Out-of-town coin dealer duped by robbers

Time: 8:04 p.m. – Friday night
Location: 312 N. Macmillan Ave.
Offense: Armed Robbery

Summary: The male victim, age 55, is a coin dealer from Jacksonville, NC. He said he made an appointment to meet someone at the listed address to discuss a possible purchase of some coins. When he arrived, he realized that the house was vacant and had a “For Rent” sign.

A man came from behind the residence and invited the victim to the back yard where a second man was waiting. As they began to talk, one of the men pointed a handgun at the victim and he tried to run. He was hit in the head several times with a blunt object and forced to the ground.

The robbers seized a bag of coins and took the victim’s cell phone from his pocket. Then both attackers got into an older model gray or white car and drove away. The victim sustained several lacerations on his head, one of which required stitches.

Suspect descriptions: 1.) White male, approximately 6’1”, 160 – 180 pounds, 18 – 24 years of age, with dark straight, medium-length hair, clean shaven; wearing plain white t-shirt, blue shorts and boat shoes. 2.) Black male, medium complexion (possibly middle eastern or Latino, no accent), 5’7” – 5’9”, 24 – 28 years of age, with a short, brown, “bowl-like” afro, clean shaven; wearing blue dress shirt, dark tie and khaki dress pants at the time of the offense.
