Pender residents using oxygen concentrators should bring medications if going to shelter

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Office of Emergency Management says residents using oxygen concentrators should bring their medications and go to the shelter at Burgaw Middle School.

“This is urgent,” Pender County Emergency Manager Tom Collins said in a news release. “Most of the west side of Pender County is without power. Patients using oxygen concentrators must bring medications with them.”

Patients using oxygen concentrators must have medications if they go to the emergency room at Pender Memorial or patients will be admitted.

Oxygen concentrator patients can use the shelter, where power is available. Please bring medications, blanket, pillow and bedding when using the shelter.

Pender County Emergency Management will post updates on its Facebook page and on its website. If you need assistance call the Emergency Management office at (910) 259-1210.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story encouraged patients to go to Pender Memorial Hospital. Emergency Management later issued an updated release changing that to the shelter.
