Matthew knocks out canopies at BSL gas stations
BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — A pair of Boiling Spring Lakes gas stations are open, and one is still selling gas, even after Hurricane Matthew knocked over their metal canopies last night.
The owner of Kopp’s Kwik Stop on NC 87 says his store’s massive overhang went crashing down around 9 p.m. The crash took out one of the store’s two gas pumps. The owner says crews will clear out the canopy tomorrow, but it could be weeks before it’s replaced. He hopes to get a new pump sooner than that.
Just up the street, the storm also took out the canopy at the BP station. That station is unable to sell gas for the time being.
