Leland man faces crimes against nature, statutory rape charges

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A Leland man is in jail under a $1 million bond accused of multiple sex crimes.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael Patrick Mazza, 19, yesterday afternoon.

He’s charged with 6 counts of crimes against nature, 4 counts of indecent liberties with a child and 4 counts of statutory rape.

According to arrest warrants, the the crimes happened between January of 2015 and September 30 of 2016. At the time of the crimes, the defendant was over 16 years of age and at least five years older than the child.
