Preparations Underway for The Annual North Carolina Blueberry Festival
BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Blueberry Festival in Burgaw is a little more than a week away.
Preparations are being made for a big crowd.
The mayor of Burgaw, Olivia Dawson, says the festival draws between 4o,000 and 50,000 people each year.
To put that in perspective, Burgaw only has a population of around 3,000 people.
The town’s Blueberry Mural on Fremont Street received a fresh coat of paint last week, and homes and businesses beginning to decorate with blue ribbons and flags.
The festival kicks off next Friday, June 14th at 6 PM in Burgaw.
