Wrightsville Beach cuts ribbon on new police, fire station

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach police and fire departments have a new home. The town cut the ribbon to its new public safety facility today.

Community members came out to get a look at the building. This is the first time in the fire department’s 95 years of service it has a fire house of its own. Fire Chief Frank Smith says this is an exciting milestone for the entire community.

“It’s just fantastic,” Smith said. “I mean it’s a huge step for the community, and it’s the largest project the town of Wrightsville Beach has ever taken. We understand during the difficult economic times we’re in that it’s difficult to pull something like this off.”
