Feeling hot, hot, hot!

It’s the first month of the summertime season, one that usually leads to the hotter months of July and August, but this June has wasted no time bringing the dog days of summer to the Carolinas.

Once we put 2010 into the rundown, it stacks up as the second warmest June on record with an average temperature of 80.2 degrees. Not only that, but the month has racked up a whopping twenty days that hit at least 90 degree days so far, equaling the most on record for Wilmington.

In the high temperature department, the warmest June on record saw an average high of 93.2 degrees. While we haven’t been that warm, we’re the second warmest with an average high of 90.9 scorching degrees.

What does this mean for the rest of the summer? At this point, it’s hard to say, but it’s certainly gotten off to a beastly start.
