CFPUA requests Voluntary Water Conservation overnight Wednesday
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM A NEWS RELEASE SENT TO THE WWAY NEWSCHANN3L 3 NEWSROOM…
CFPUA will be performing a planned water line tie-in as part of the continuing Sweeney Water Treatment Plant expansion project. This tie-in is scheduled for this Wednesday night, August 4th between 10PM and 5AM. In preparation for a potential reduction in capacity from the Sweeney facility, CFPUA is asking that customers voluntarily limit their water consumption to essential use up to and during this period of construction.
Customers should begin voluntary conservation efforts as soon as possible and continue through Thursday, August 5th unless further notice of additional conservation measures becomes necessary. While conservation efforts at this time are voluntary, mandatory restrictions like prohibitions on irrigation and other non-essential water use may become necessary. If enacted, mandatory restrictions will be provided to local media outlets, and will be available in the ‘Newsflash’ and ‘Public Information Notice and Advisories’ sections of our website www.cfpua.org.
To ensure minimal disruption to service, this phase of the project will be occurring during off-peak hours. Additionally:
* CFPUA will ensure water supply is at optimum levels before and during the event.
* Additional emergency water supply systems are in place if needed.
* CFPUA water distribution repair crews will be available throughout this shutdown to assist.
* CFPUA emergency management will be prepped for the event and on standby and
* New Hanover County Fire Department, City of Wilmington Fire Department, New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center, and the NC State Division of Public Water Supply are being notified of this planned event.
