WWAY’s Helen Holt wins RTDNAC Award

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — WWAY’s Helen Holt won a Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas Award Saturday for her story on a mother trying to help others after losing her son to heroin.

Helen won the award for Best Hard News Feature in TV Division II, which includes the smaller market TV stations in North Carolina and South Carolina.

In June, Helen brought you the story of Cindy Patane, whose son died from a heroin overdose just a couple months earlier at the age of 21. Patane spoke out to help other families dealing with similar issues and to help raise money to keep addicts in treatment so they can overcome their addiction.
