Business owners learn about Convention Center jobs
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Another step closer to getting Wilmington’s Convention Center up and running means more jobs. Local business owners attended a forum hosted by SMC, the convention center’s managing company. Businesses learned about the process they’ll have to go through to compete for contracts once the building is finished. The convention center will be looking for several services including security, audio visual displays, and landscaping.
“I think it’s going to have a massive economic benefit,” says Erich Gail of BBX. “I think it’s fantastic that the city and the community as a whole made that investment.”
“Right now we’re just going to cross our fingers for a while I guess,” said Elezar Herrera of Ethos Studios. “We’re ready to see the convention center and we’re ready to see what’s going to happen here in town.”
The Convention Center is expected to be completed in the next few months. Almost 30 events are already scheduled.
