Firefighters brave heat to fill boots for MDA
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington firefighters braved the heat today for a good cause. They are taking part this weekend in the “Fill the Boot” campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
They are standing outside several stores and restaurants around town, including Chick-Fil-A, in temperatures they are pretty used to being in. Firefighters say despite the poor economy people are still donating anything they can.
“Even though it’s hard times for everybody, they’re still willing to give and help out, and it’s good for the kids, and they could use it,” Capt. Sam Morris said.
Firefighters say it’s also convenient for people to come in to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and leave with not just food, but a good feeling of charity as well.
