TROUBLESHOOTERS UPDATE: Builder charged with embezzlement

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — In tonight’s Troubleshooters report, we have an update on a story we’ve been following since 2008. An Oak Island builder has been arrested, accused of embezzling $700,000.

Brian Keesee has been in the news ever since he sued the town of Oak Island for refusing to release public records related to one of his housing developments. The town ultimately had to pay Keesee about $50,000 in attorneys fees.

Keesee is now in the midst of a civil suit with his estranged wife, who told police he took more than $500,000 from their business Better Beach Rentals on Oak Island.
