Wrightsboro reopens after mold problem

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsboro Elementary School is open and mold-free. The New Hanover County school closed in February because of elevated levels of mold in several buildings.

More than 400 students had to finish the school year at Holly Shelter Middle School. Crews worked over the summer to clean up the mold.

“Wrightsboro is fresh and clean and ready for students, staff, and parents,” principal Boni Hall. “We are so excited about our building. Not only has the mold been completely abated but there have been many extra cleaning projects that have been done as well.”

The school district, custodial staff, community volunteers and even Boy Scouts helped repaint the walls and spruce up the school for the new year.
