WPD’s overnight crime report

Wilmington Police Department (NEWS RELEASE) – Activity Report – August 30 – 31, 2010

Case#: 2010-031382
Time: 7:23 p.m. – Monday
Location: 1900 block Oleander Drive
Offense: 2nd Degree Kidnapping, Assault on Female
Summary: Tw friends of the female victim, age 22, reported that the suspect drove out of a restaurant parking lot at a high rate of speed as the victim tried to get out of the car. The responding WPD officer was able to determine that the victim had been driven into Brunswick County, but the car was en route back to the city. WPD officers set up at 3rd and Dawson Streets and waited. Officers made a high risk felony stop in the 300 block of Dawson Street. The suspect, Harry Lewis Artemisio III of Fayetteville, NC, was taken into custody. The victim had sustained minor physical injuries. Artemisio is charged as noted above. As of Tuesday morning, he was being held without bond at the New Hanover County detention facility. Booking photo attached.

Time: 1:34 a.m. – Tuesday
Location: 12th and Queen Streets
Offense: Armed Robbery
Summary: The female victim, age 22, reported that she was in the area to pick up a friend. She said that while she was waiting in her car, a man with a handgun and his shirt pulled over his face opened her car door and demanded all her money. The victim said the robber took her purse, containing cash and her car keys, and then came around to the passenger’s side and searched the glove box. Then he left on foot, headed southbound on 11th Street. The case is under investigation.
