A DREAM come true

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Proof dreams really do come true. The DREAM Center for Arts Education is getting a much needed new home in Wilmington.

The non-profit organization finally got enough money to start renovating the old city maintenance garage on Fanning and 10th Streets. It will be a place to provide a quality arts education to children in need.

Today was the much-anticipated ground-breaking ceremony.

“This is a dream come true, and you know what? Dreams don’t happen in isolation,” DREAMS Executive Director Tracy Wilkes said. “It has taken a village to make our dream home come true, and when I shut my eyes and I imagine the little feet running into this building on the first day and looking at the dance studio and the pottery studio and the art studio, I am just overcome.”

So far DREAMS has raised $780,000 for the new facility. Its goal is $1 million.
