New Hanover Co. Board of Education approves administrative positions

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – At September’s New Hanover County Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the appointment of the following administrators:

Paul Slovik was appointed assistant principal at Gregory School of Science, Math & Technology. Mr. Slovik recently served as the interim assistant principal at Bradley Creek Elementary, where he also completed his administrative internship. Mr. Slovik also taught elementary education at Bradley Creek Elementary. Prior to his employment with NHCS, he taught elementary and middle school in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Robert Harrell, who served as an Intensive Behavioral Support (IBS) teacher at Trask Middle School, has been appointed to one of the two assistant principal positions at Holly Shelter Middle School. Mr. Harrell will serve with Assistant Principal Ms. Stephanie Smith. Previously, Mr. Harrell was an IBS Paraeducator at Trask Middle School.

Deanna Leake was appointed assistant principal at Murray Middle School. She will serve with Assistant Principal Cyndy Bliss. Ms. Leake was an administrative intern at Burgaw Middle School and Hoggard High School. Ms. Leake is a National Board Certified teacher and previously taught at Bellamy Elementary School.

Teresa Conoly was appointed assistant principal at Virgo Middle School. Ms. Conoly was an administrative intern at New Hanover High School and Penderlea Elementary School. She was a Magnet Coordinator at Snipes Academy of Arts & Design, a District-wide Literacy Coach and taught Pre-K education at both J. C. Roe and NHCS Pre-K Centers. Ms. Conoly is also a National Board Certified teacher.
