FIRST ON 3: Man shot in butt on 9th Street

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – 9th Street / Russell Aly. The call was dispatched at 2:03 p.m.

The reporting officer says that the 19-year-old male victim had been shot in the buttocks. When the first officer arrived, the victim was standing on the porch of his grandmother’s house (Russell’s Aly). The victim was uncooperative, initially refusing to give his name. He said he didn’t know the (geographic) location of where he was shot and he didn’t know who shot him. Later the victim said he was walking in the 800 block S. 8th Street when he heard gunshots and saw a car speeding off. He said then he realized he’d been shot and ran to his grandmother’s house.

The victim was transported to NHRMC for treatment. Officer tried to locate a crime scene in the 800 block S. 8th Street, but were unsuccessful. The investigation is continuing. That’s all we have other than to say it appears that the wound is not life-threatening.
