Man dead after game of Russian Roulette

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is dead after losing at a game of Russian Roulette last night.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says around 10 p.m. three men were hanging out at a home on Jamaica Drive in Castle Hayne. The other men say they thought 27-year-old James Rodney Rich III was kidding when he pulled out a gun and suggested playing Russian Roulette.

They say Rich put a bullet in the cylinder, spun it, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The gun went off killing him.
