Teacher of the Week: Ed Somech

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The sounds of Christmas ring through the halls of Murrayville Elementary School as Ed Somech’s students sing holiday favorites.

A musician at heart, Mr. Somech displays an unending dedication and excitement about teaching that led his fellow teachers to nominate him for Teacher of the Week.  One teacher even says Mr. Somech makes every day better at Murrayville.

“I like being the first one to get them excited about music,” Mr. Somech says, “to give them the tools they need to become musicians themselves.  They are musicians!”

It’s evident that they are having a great time learning music as you watch them sing and dance getting ready for Christmas.

As for music, Mr. Somech says “It’s a gift I can give them forever and no one can take it away.”
