Local beach favorite closes for the season

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A local Carolina Beach favorite has closed up shop, if you’re in the mood for Britt’s donuts, you’re out of luck until the spring. They’ve always closed up the last weekend in September. In the old days, the Carolina Beach boardwalk used to be a ghost town after Labor Day.

Owner Bobby Nivens said, “we’ve been here about 71, 72 years now, and that’s the way we have always done it. A lot of our customers sort of like it like that because it gives ’em something to look forward to coming back in the spring.”

Bobby and his wife, who run the shop together, work every day during the summer, so it gives them a chance to rest, and it keeps customers wanting more.
