DOT tries to fix 74/76 damage before more rain falls

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Department of Transportation crews will be back to work this morning to try and finish repairs on US 74/76 in Brunswick County. The outside lanes in each direction are closed at the Leland town line.

The DOT says Monday’s heavy rain caused a chunk of pavement on the eastbound shoulder to give way.

Crews worked until about 10 p.m. Tuesday to try to repair damage on both sides of the road, but the DOT said rain today and tomorrow could make it worse.
