Brunswick County continues under State of Emergency
BOLIVIA, NC (NEWS RELEASE) – Brunswick County remains under a State of Emergency that was declared at 5:30pm on September 27, 2010.
An additional 7 to 10 inches is expected to fall throughout Brunswick County through the remainder of today through Thursday morning with isolated higher amounts possible. As a result of the saturated ground and forecasted rainfall, the area could experience significant widespread flooding.
Water will continue to accumulate in low-lying areas and along streams and other waterways as the rain continues to fall. A wind advisory is now in effect for Brunswick County from midnight tonight until 1100am Thursday. We continue to be under a flash flood watch until Friday morning. Shelters will open at 4pm on Wednesday afternoon.
North Brunswick High School, Old Fayetteville Rd in Leland West Brunswick High School, Whiteville Rd in Shallotte Brunswick County Emergency Services will continue to monitor the situation and will post further notices as prudent.
