Wounded Warriors bike into town

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Brave men and women injured in battle biked for a cause today. Community members came together to support the veterans and active duty men and women.

The Warrior Ride program first hit the road eight years ago. It makes its way through Wilmington each year to raise awareness and support for military men and women who have been injured in battle.

“It’s like a therapy thing almost, because there’s a lot of mental things that go into the riding and physical things as well, with the balance with the bikes,” wounded Marine Daniel Frawley said. “I like being out there and doing the rides with other veterans and some of the other people that have been some of the places that I’ve been.”

Frawley was wounded in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2007. He is still recovering.

The warriors will continue with more rides through Saturday morning. Stops include Carolina Beach, Southport and Oak Island.
