WPD hosts kids at annual Demo Day

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Kids have big dreams. For the kids who dream of being a cop, today was their lucky day. Today was Demo Day for the Wilmington Police Department.

It was an open invitation for kids to check out all the things the police department has. From getting a close-up look inside a police car to seeing police dogs in action, the kids had a ball. And the officers enjoyed answering questions from the kids.

“All kinds of questions, but mostly statements. They’ll usually tell you about their own dog. They’ll raise their hand and then start talking about the dog they have at home, which we love,” Ofc. Carson Sietter said. “We think it’s funny, and we love it.”

Officers say Demo Day is a great way to reach out to children and for them to see the police in a positive environment.
