Election 2010 goes to the dogs

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — While most of us are celebrating Halloween our furry friends are celebrating Howl-O-Ween; and pets are getting in on the election action too. The annual Howl-O-Ween Paw-ty took place at Coastal K9 Bakery in Carolina Beach Saturday. Pooches dressed up and got to enjoy doggy trick-or-treats. Coastal K9 Bakery has put on the event since they opened six years ago, but this year is only the second time pups got to vote for their favorite political party.

“I wanted him to vote Republican, and he voted Democrat, so that was not good.” Joked Kim Dopson of dog Buster.

Bakery owner, Jackie Oakes said she wanted the canines to vote because she thinks this year’s election has gone to the dogs. Despite Buster’s best efforts, Republicans took the vote over Democrats 13 to 4.
