Toys for Tots kicks off annual toy drive

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The most wonderful time of the year is coming up soon, and while you’re out doing you’re Christmas shopping, some families are not as fortunate. But you can help.

Toys for Tots kicked off its annual toy drive today at Toys-R-Us in Wilmington today. The charity has been delivering gifts to needy children for 63 years.

Each year the charity collects and delivers an average of 16 million toys.

“The children are totally overjoyed. The parents could not be happier. The look on the faces is priceless,” New Hanover Co. Toys for Tots coordinator Michael Gautier said.

Toys for Tots teams up with the Salvation Army so that children can get clothes if they need them and families can receive a hot Christmas meal.
