Repairs to close lanes on Cape Fear Memorial Bridge

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Starting Wednesday, lanes on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will intermittently close overnight for bridge work.

The Department of Transportation says the eastbound and westbound lanes will intermittently close from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next morning. This will happen both Wednesday and Thursday night.

The DOT says these closures are needed for crews to repair damage to the metal deck and center rail caused by a vehicle collision on the lift span of the bridge.

One lane in each direction will remain open to traffic at all times.

However, drivers are urged to seek alternate routes and to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays.
