STORMTRACK 3 UPDATE: Jerry says don’t worry about snow this weekend
FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JERRY JACKSON: A weak “clipper” system will approach the area late Saturday night/Sunday morning. Historically, these systems bring very little precipitation to our area. Temperatures will be falling rapidly, so there is a slight chance of a few snow flakes in our area (mainly extreme northern counties) late Saturday night. However, most of the event will be in the form of light rain. Furthermore, ground temperatures will be rather warm initially, preventing any snow accumulation.
Bottom line – it appears to be a light rain event Saturday night/Sunday morning, maybe with a flake or two of snow mixed in. I’ll be monitoring the situation though and if anything changes, I’ll keep you informed. Otherwise, it appears to be a non-event (as of Friday morning).
