WWAY NewsChannel 3 welcomes anchor Cacky Catlett to Wilmington
We’re excited to announce that Cacky Catlett has joined the WWAY NewsChannel 3 Team as our newest anchor. You’ll get to meet her Monday, January 3 during WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 5 & 6.
Cacky is originally from Southern Indiana just outside Louisville, KY. Right now, she’s anchoring in Davenport, IA, so she says she’s ready to come South to the beach.
She came to Wilmington to interview a couple of weekends ago, and she immediately won us over. I kidded her because Andy Combs, our General Manager, took her and me to dinner on the Intracoastal that first night, bought us appetizers and salads and steaks and desserts; the table was never empty. All I got during my interview … was a French Dip Sandwich! “Andy must really like you,” I told her – and we both did.
Cacky will bring an energy and passion for local news that I think you’ll pick up on right away. She’s in the process of shooting a video to introduce herself to the area. As soon as she gets that done, we’ll post it for you to watch. In the meantime, here’s a note she sent that she wanted me to share with you…

Hello Wilmington! My name is Cacky Catlett and I am thrilled to be joining the WWAY news team as one of the new, evening anchors.
I sure have missed the South! I spent some time in that region of the country, as I attended college at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. During my four years there, I grew to love the exceptionally friendly people, the delicious foods and warm climate of the South. There really is no place like it!
My goal at WWAY is to tell the stories that really matter to you, the people of Wilmington. I hope to develop a long lasting and trusting relationship with the members of this wonderful community. I’ll see you on January 3rd!
