Traffic moving again on US 17 south of Leland

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Traffic is moving again on US 17 south of Leland. The road was closed in both directions just south of Lanvale Road near Leland. A witness stuck in traffic in the southbound lane said there was a fender bender in the northbound lane, but officers shut down traffic in both directions at a bridge over railroad tracks that run next to Brunswick Forest.

When traffic started moving again, the driver told us there were two cars on the side of the southbound lanes but no other signs of problems.

When WWAY called Brunswick County Dispatch to find out what happened, a dispatcher said, “Everything is iced. I can’t stay on the line,” before quickly hanging up.
