Power coming back on in Bladen after snow caused outages
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — More than six inches of snow fell in Bladen County this weekend. It was apparently too much for many power lines to handle.
Officials in Bladen County say more than 90-percent of the county lost power early Sunday morning because of the snow. A majority of residents got their power back sunday night, but not everyone was that lucky.
Today utility crews were spread across different parts of the county. We followed a work crew, which had been working since 6 a.m. Sunday. They led us to Camp Clearwater in White Lake. Progress Energy says that area is one of the last to have its power restored.
“We’ve got workers being deployed to areas that were harder hit, and we’re relieving some of them that have been working through the night,” Progress Energy spokeswoman Kristie Plaga said.
Progress Energy says fewer than 200 customers are still without power. We also tried to contact Four County EMC to see how many of its customers are still without power, but we didn’t receive a call back by news time.
