WWAY NewsChannel 3 announces new anchor line-up for new year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We have a great New Year’s resolution already: start the year off with a bang!

We’re excited to announce that Chris Phillips and Cacky Catlett have been named as our new co-anchors for WWAY NewsChannel 3 at 5, 6 & 11 starting Monday, January 3, 2011.

What’s not so exciting to share with you is that Greg Privett is leaving us. Greg is originally from Alabama and owns a house there, and therein lies the problem. He owns it now, meaning he hasn’t been able to sell it since moving to Wilmington. We understand it’s very tough to own or rent in two places at the same time, so Greg has decided to move back to ‘Bama.

“I’ve loved living in the Cape Fear,” Greg said. “It’s a great place with awesome people, and WWAY has great professionals with incredible talent — the best you’ll find anywhere! I’ve made a lot of friends here. Like a lot of other folks, though, I’ve had to make a tough financial choice. The recession and housing market have made it hard to sell my house back in Alabama, so I’m going back home. Thankfully, I’m blessed to have opportunities in financial services. Plus, now, it’ll be easy to pick a vacation destination!”
