Ed Lewis is the new baseball coach at Pender

Pender High School has hired Mr. Ed Lewis to take over as Head Baseball Coach. Coach Lewis has extensive baseball knowledge and has been a part of many programs in the area. Coach Lewis played for Leon Brogden and Buck Hardee at New Hanover HS for 3 years. He also played 4 years for Wilmington College (now UNC-W) for Coach Bill Brooks. He was an assistant at New Hanover HS for 5 years, and started the Baseball program at Laney HS and remained the Head Coach there for 5 years. He also coached the Post 68 American Legion team in Brunswick County from 1988 – 1998 where his team appeared in the World Series. He was a Graduate Assistant for Leon Polk at Mississippi State as well. His focus is on coaching the fundamentals of baseball while instilling a strict discipline of the game. It is with great pride that we welcome Coach Lewis to our coaching staff here at Pender.
