ONLY ON 3: Car slams into Wilmington home… again!

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Talk about bad luck. Not once, but twice.

This is the second time in a two-year period that the Branch household on Dron Place in Wilmington has been hit by a car. The City of Wilmington and DOT have ignored their pleas. Maybe they will listen now.

Wilmington resident William Branch and his wife Cindy were rudely awakened at 1 a.m. Saturday when a car slammed into their bedroom. They weren’t hurt, but the jolt threw William into his TV.

Before ramming into the Branches’ house the car sped through the intersection of Pine Grove Drive and Holly Tree Road, jumped a curb, ran over a huge drainage ditch, tore through a fence, went through a neighbor’s backyard and slammed through two large shrub bushes. The Branches’ bedroom was the only thing strong enough
to stop the force of the car.

Speeding is certainly not out of the question.

Wilmington Police were searching for the driver of the car, who somehow escaped when we left the scene at 2 a.m. Saturday. There was not a registration in the car. The license plate may have been fictitious. Details on that are still sketchy.
