Azalea Festival Cake Challenge to offer cash prizes

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Still trying to decide whether to compete in this year’s Azalea Festival Cake Challenge? How’s this for incentive: cash prizes.

The Azalea Festival will offer cash prizes for the first time this year when judging the Cake Challenge.

The winner of the professional division will take home $200, while second place gets $100 and third $50.

Both the advanced and novice sections of the amateur division will receive $100 for first place, with second taking $50 and third pocketing $30.

Judges will also give out engraved platters, prize ribbons and gift certificates for various achievements.
